Shooting Stars
From September 2020 there have been some exciting changes. The site now incorporates our Nursery and Reception class – called Shooting Stars.
Reynalds Cross took over responsibility for the Green Lane Nursery site in September 2018. The nursery works as an assessment unit for pupils who have additional needs, aged between 2 ½ to 4. It is not necessary to have a formal diagnosis or an EHCP to be offered a nursery place.
We follow and adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS). In particular, we place a high emphasis on the three areas of Communication, Personal Social and Emotional, and Physical development. These are known within the EYFS as ‘Prime Areas’ and form the foundations of everything we do. Play skills are developed through continuous provision as well as adult led activities. Personalised learning is key within our setting, where we value every small step of progress that our children make.
Green Lane Playgroup was setup by the charity Solihull Children’s Special Needs Association in 1968, to bring much needed care and stimulation to pre-school children with special needs, and valuable respite for their parents or carers. In September 2018 we, at Reynalds Cross, took over management of Green Lane Nursery and have incorporated it as part of our school. The Green Lane trustees are continuing to support the Nursery.
